System Administrator

Job Title

System Administrator with Cloud, Security, VoIP, and Domain Management Expertise

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive System Administrator to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in managing and maintaining enterprise IT systems, with specialized knowledge in AWS and Google Cloud services, Git version control, VMware virtualization technologies, Fortigate firewalls, endpoint security, telephony systems, LEMP/LAMP stacks, and various database technologies. The candidate should also be knowledgeable in domain registrars, DNS configurations, Active Directory, and Domain Controllers. This role is pivotal in ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of our IT infrastructure and communications systems.

Key Responsibilities
System Management:
  • Install, configure, and maintain servers, networks, and operating systems using LEMP/LAMP stacks.
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high levels of availability and security.
  • Implement and manage virtualization environments using VMware technologies.
  • Manage hyper-converged infrastructure solutions to optimize performance and scalability.
  • Configure and manage email servers using Postfix.
Cloud Infrastructure:
  • Design, deploy, and manage AWS and Google Cloud Compute Engine services.
  • Optimize cloud resources for performance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure proper security measures and compliance within cloud environments.
  • Implement and manage Cloudflare for DNS management and web security.
Security Administration:
  • Configure and manage Fortigate firewalls to protect network infrastructure.
  • Deploy and maintain endpoint security solutions across all devices.
  • Perform regular PCI scanning to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Monitor security systems and respond to potential threats or breaches.
  • Implement best practices for system security and data assurance.
DNS and Domain Management:
  • Manage domain registrations and DNS configurations with various registrars.
  • Ensure proper DNS settings to optimize website performance and email routing.
  • Troubleshoot domain-related issues and coordinate with registrars as necessary.
Active Directory and Domain Controllers:
  • Administer and manage Active Directory, including user accounts, groups, and policies.
  • Support the setup and maintenance of Domain Controllers, ensuring high availability and security.
  • Implement Group Policies to enforce security settings and configurations across the organization.
Version Control and Collaboration:
  • Utilize Git for version control and collaborate with development teams.
  • Manage repositories, branches, and workflows to support software development and deployment processes.
Database Management:
  • Install, configure, and manage databases including MongoDB, Redis, Pinecone, Qdrant, and Weaviate.
  • Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity and security.
  • Develop backup and recovery strategies for database systems.
Telephony Systems:
  • Install, configure, and maintain 3CX phone systems.
  • Manage SIP trunks and ensure reliable VoIP communications.
  • Troubleshoot telephony issues and optimize call quality and performance.
Collaboration with Operations Team:
  • Work closely with the Operations team to support customer-facing technologies.
  • Provide technical expertise to integrate backend systems with tools such as Freshdesk used by the Operations team.
  • Assist in optimizing system performance to enhance customer service delivery.
Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
  • Generate regular reports on system performance, security incidents, and infrastructure changes.
Collaboration and Support:
  • Work closely with IT team members and other departments to support organizational goals.
  • Participate in on-call support rotation as needed.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior team members.
Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a System Administrator or in a similar role.
  • Proven experience with AWS and Google Cloud Compute Engine services, managing cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Proficient in using Git for version control in a collaborative environment.
  • Extensive experience with VMware virtualization technologies and hyper-converged infrastructure.
  • Experience configuring and managing Fortigate firewalls and endpoint security solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with 3CX phone systems, SIP protocols, and SIP trunking services.
  • Proficient in managing LEMP/LAMP stacks and configuring web servers.
  • Experience managing email servers using Postfix.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based security solutions like Cloudflare.
  • Knowledge and experience with domain registrars and DNS configurations.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory and managing Domain Controllers is essential.
  • Familiarity with PCI scanning procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Familiarity with supporting systems that integrate with customer service platforms like Freshdesk.
Technical Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows server environments.
  • Familiarity with network protocols, firewalls, VPNs, and security configurations.
  • Experience with automation and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Understanding of VoIP technologies and network requirements for optimal performance.
  • Knowledge of ITIL practices is a plus.
  • Understanding of DevOps practices and tools is a plus.
Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
